My name is Walton. I am 23 years old, and I have been studying drum set and classical percussion for 15 years. Introduced to percussion at the age of 8 by my father, also my first teacher, I fell in love with music and have not looked back since. I have been apart of every musical opportunity from middle school through high school including jazz band, percussion ensemble, marching and concert band, performing with local bands, and private lessons. After high school, I attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where I studied for four and a half years under Dr. Marc M. White, graduate of the University of North Texas. While at SOSU, I was apart of the Jazz ensemble, Percussion ensemble, African ensemble, Middle-Eastern ensemble, Marching band, Symphonic band, Intercollegiate Honor band, and even had the opportunity to go to China with a Jazz combo for several weeks. I have worked as a professional musician for Holland America Cruise Lines in Seattle, WA, taught private lessons and drum line at Ardmore High School in Ardmore, OK, performed many musicals for the Ardmore Little Theatre, and performed/toured with many local bands in the southern Oklahoma and north Texas areas. I am currently attending the University of Central Oklahoma for a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance, studying privately with jazz great Ed Soph, and will be touring the mid-west with my current band PorterHouse.
