I help students see the ""big musical picture"" in smaller, manageable parts - thereby making it something they can achieve with focus and a little diligent practice.
I am good at showing them that they are capable of more than they might imagine and many times more than their teachers or parents might expect of them.
I teach with humor, but, also with a solid foundation underneath it all.
I prefer to teach the student how to play their instrument so they can tackle any song that is put in front of them, rather than teach them how to play the Pop music song of the day, which will enable them to play just that one song (hopefully before it becomes an 'oldie'! )

Performing Experience:
Manage a jazz quartet, which performs regularly throughout the New York metropolitan area;
I also manage a big band - which is performing in Manhattan
- featured instrumentalist with Connie James at Metropolitan Room and Debra Holly at Danny’s Skylight Room.
• Produced a CD compilation of jazz performers; currently working on a recording of clarinet works by Gerald Finzi and other contemporary composers.
• Play saxophone and clarinet for a wide variety of ensembles including:

Experience Teaching:
Several years - non-continuous - teaching students how to play clarinet and saxophone - one student went on to the Juilliard pre-college division, one went on to play with the Navy band and others had done well with their NYSSMA grades and general school performances and such.
