My career in music began at an early age and I know what it is like to struggle learning how to play various instruments. I also know how crucial it is to have the right instructor – one who is experienced and knowledgeable, but most importantly, one who is patient. Learning to play an instrument can be a frustrating process for children of all ages, and I feel that my experience teaching students ranging from 4 to 16 years old makes it easier for me to relate to the students, and allows me to anticipate areas that students of those ages typically struggle with, because I have seen them and experienced them before. My experience in a classroom setting as a teachers’ assistant will also help me thrive in this position as I know how to command the students’ attention. Not only will I be able to teach the students the technical skills required to play an instrument, but I am also able to teach the students about stage presence and how to play confidently, given my experience playing in large venues and on TV. My background playing music and my educational experiences at the Musician’s Institute will enable me to work effectively in all aspects of this position if I am given the opportunity.
