At 18, he began three years of formal university music studies in classical guitar and theory at Texas A&M International University. Alan is now a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where he studied jazz guitar and composition with such renowned and grammy award winning artists/composers such as Alla Elana Cohen, Hal Crook, Greg Hopkins, Mick Goodrick, Sheryl Bailey, and others. Alan specializes in Jazz improvisation and has extensive experience playing and recording many styles including Rock, Pop, Fusion, Salsa, HipHop, Latin Jazz, and more.

He is a dedicated and experienced teacher with students of all ages (from 5 to 60+).
