Dave R had his start as a musician in the elementary school band and never looked back. He began as a brass player, later adding guitar and piano. Since boyhood, Dave has performed thousands of times in virtually every style of music including classical, rock, folk, Celtic, sacred and jazz.
David R has over 45 years of music experience in the Holly Springs area.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
To learn not only the "standard" style of book and score based piano, but also how to play by ear, improvise, and perform in ensembles of various styles.
Formal Education:
Dave enlarged his teaching skills while earning a BA in applied music at SUNY Fredonia. There, he honed his skills while teaching individual and group lessons. Upon graduating, he continued teaching in his private music studio. Since then, he has taught students of all ages and every level, tailoring lessons to meet the musical goals of each individual. Dave brings together a lifetime of performance and teaching to help his audiences, students and fellow musicians discover the joy and fulfillment that only musical can give.
Private Education:
In recent years have studied with Triangle area jazz masters Scott Sawyer, Gary Brunotte, and Ed Paoloantonio. Studied at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Institute in Louisville, KY.
Performing Experience:
Numerous instrumental and vocal groups both as leader and conductor, and continues to perform as the founding director of The Route 55 Jazz Orchestra of Holly Springs and numerous local bands. Regular jazz combo gigs.
Experience Teaching:
Teaching adults, teens, and children for decades; beginners through advanced in technique, theory, and jazz improvisation.
