Chavdar has been studying music since he was ten years old. At the age of thirteen, he moved from Shumen, Bulgaria to the capital to become a full-time student at the Bulgarian National Music Conservatory. Prior to graduating with a Master’s Degree of Trombone, he was invited to join the New Symphony Orchestra, based in Sofia, as a principal trombonist. During his tenure with the New Symphony Orchestra he completed his education and began touring internationally with Teatro Lirico D’Europa as a principal Trombonist. He was also invited to join the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and played with them for five years while still touring, during breaks, with Teatro Lirico D’Europa. Chavdar first visited the United States in 1996 on a tour with Teatro Lirico and continued touring all over the U.S. for the next seven years with them. In 2003 he decided to move to the United States permanently and took up residence in New York City. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, he came to New Orleans as part of relief team and found a place to call home.
