I started playing at a very young age, hammering out simple melodies on an old piano. In the sixth grade I picked up the trombone and the alto sax in seventh, achieved varsity status my freshman year and played throughout High School. The guitar came along my sophomore year and it was over then.
Ted Hall of the Austin Guitar School was my first real instructor. We learned a few songs together and showcased at the Continental Club on south Congress. I Played around Austin for the next couple of years before making my decision to attend Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. I was able to get in a band and play a few gigs on Sunset Blvd. I took a private lesson with Paul Gilbert and songwriting and performance classes with Robin Randall and Guy Marshal. They are the writers for the TV series Baywatch.
I returned to Texas in 2000 and was living in Killeen. It was almost a dream come true when I met “Cutter” Brandenburg. He is my Stevie Ray Vaughan’s best friend and road manager. I was able to form a relationship with him and get advice, and see and play with some of my favorite musicians. Bugs Henderson, Double Trouble, Buddy Miles, Monty Montgomery.
Teaching guitar at Eighth Street Art Studio in Georgetown, Texas was quite rewarding as well. I was able to share my influences with others like the blues, rock and roll, country, funk and metal. No genre was off limits.
I have played with several bands. Some Texas Country like The Andrew Jennings’ band, out of Liberty Hill. Sam Watkins and Fate Train out of Bastrop. AJB has played The Liberty Hill Cook off and the Leander Cook off for three years running as well as The Bunkhouse in Weir, TX and Jack’s Roadhouse in San Marcos. I have also been able to perform with Rod Binnion out of Houston at an incredible venue called Rock Wine and Blues. I currently play in a blues band Called Blue Plate Special.
I am coming up on 20 years experience playing the guitar and see no end in sight. I love the instrument and music so much…it’s my life dream to be awarded a Grammy or be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. I would be just as happy touring with a project that I believe in and gives as much love back to me as I put in.

Fantastic teacher
I've just barely started my lessons with Chris but he is the real deal. He immediately noticed where I was strongest and where I was weakest, then set up a personalized plan for me to practice with. The love that Chris has for music is clear to see and even clearer to hear. Thank you Chris, you rock! Ethan Alamein wrote on Wed, 13 Mar 2024
