About Me

Brian is a saxophonist/woodwind doubler who resides in Minneapolis, MN. A native of Mpls., Brian studied saxophone and jazz at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of North Texas, where he played/recorded with the UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble 1, the UNT Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the prestigious UNT 1 O’Clock Lab Band. Most recently, Brian was employed as a touring pit orchestra musician, where he played flute/clarinet/various saxophones on the International tour of Shrek The Musical, as well as on North American tours of the musicals Elf and Flashdance. Brian is currently working as a freelance saxophonist/woodwind doubler/educator, and can be seen performing with the bands Machinery Hill and the Twin Cities Latin Jazz Orchestra, as well as with other jazz/blues/rock groups around the Twin Cities area.

Brian H. has over 11 years of music experience in the Minneapolis area.

Experience Teaching:

I have previously taught saxophone students from grade 7 through college, and at various levels of ability from total beginners up to collegiate music majors. I teach all of the saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone) as well as beginning/intermediate clarinet, bass clarinet, flute and piano, and can also teach jazz improvisation/theory to players of any instrument.
