Salina K

Salina K. has been teaching violin and viola lessons since she was in high school, where she was concert master at Dundee Crown High School her Junior and Senior year. She started private studies with Chicago Metropolitan teachers such as Simone Tingley while performing in the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, and High School Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Pit Orchestra 1999 to 2002. During the summers, she performed with Wheaton Symphony Community Orchestra as well as Northwestern Summer Orchestra. Salina attended Northern Illinois University 2006 - 2011, studying with Mathias Tacke of the Vermeer Quartet and Blaise Magners of the Avalon Quartet. While earning her Bachelors and Masters of Music degrees in violin performance, she performed in the NIU Philharmonic, Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra, Middle Eastern Ensemble as well as playing viola in college chamber ensembles. While performing and finishing her Graduate degree, Salina started teaching in music studios from 2010 - 2015 teaching violin, viola and piano. Growing up in a 100 year old home where the movers left behind a piano, Salina started playing piano at age 4, picking up violin at age 9 and viola at age 16. Special performances include a vamp solo with Kansas' violinist David Ragsdale on song 'Dust in the Wind' during Kansas' Collegiate Symphony Tour working with NIU's Philharmonic.
