About Me

My name is Elizabeth L. I used to teach at Exeter Music before they closed down in Fairview Heights, Illinois. I took piano lessons from age 6 to age 18. There after, I played on my own just for fun. In high school, I took from the Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville's Keyboard and Development Program where I did not only learn performance, but also memorization, technique, and also had separate classes for theory. As for vocal performance, I am currently minoring in Vocal Performance at SIUE. I am also currently in the education program and by the time I graduate I will be able to teach music as well as my major, History. I have been in choir consistently since I was in seventh grade, and I have been singing even longer whether it was in summer camps, church camps, etc. I was in the MPS classes in high school which are the equivalent of honor's music classes. I also won three medals from Solo and Ensemble. Through SIUE, I have been classically trained and have been in choir concerts as well as a few operas; Gondoliers, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and a review of choice musicals and operas. As required by the Vocal Performance minors I have also taken 4 semesters worth of voice lessons. In my spare time, I also enjoy auditioning and performing musical theater. Some favorite shows include Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler on the Roof, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat. My teaching technique, whether piano or vocal, I let the student choose a couple pieces/songs to learn and I will choose a couple as well. Depending on what is decided I may need the parent/or student to somehow provide a few of the resources. I ask at the very least just one or two books to get them going. Although, that will depend on if it is piano lessons or vocal lessons. I am willing to compromise with this. This can be discussed before anything is decided with the student. Your cooperation is appreciated. I look forward to working with you/your child.

Review:

piano instructor

Liz is a very intelligent, well-read, patient young woman who I can imagine would be good with older children and teenagers. At Southern Illinois University Edwardsville she did a Study Abroad to Italy with me last year to Florence, and handled herself like a responsible adult on the month-long trip. She is interested in music, languages and reading, and is a self-starter who will take on responsibility and complete a project on time. I therefore recommend her for a position as a piano instructor Dr. Carole Collier Frick, Professor of History wrote on Wed, 08 Jul 2015

    Review for Voice Lessons

When I first decided to take voice lessons, I thought I would try it at least once, maybe twice. To be honest, I didn't think I would do a total of five voice lessons. The reason I did five lessons? Liz. She has been so wonderful and supportive. She is very talented and offered constructive comments throughout our sessions. I have found her to be an excellent match for me, and I want Taylor Robinson to know what an excellent person they have working in their company. Last week, I thought four lessons would be it for me. I felt like I achieved my personal goals. But I did another lesson, and I'm glad I did. I certainly improved under Liz's instruction, and I gained more confidence as I hit those high notes. My goal was to improve my singing so I could record a CD for my kids, and I have accomplished this. My singing sounds so much better to me, and LIz confirms that I've improved a great deal. I will practice my singing using all the tips that Liz shared with me. You truly have a fine person representing your company. Michael S. wrote on Tue, 15 Nov 2016
