With roots in Vermont, Ryan has been playing music since a young age. He began studying music on the clarinet in elementary school, and has since evolved into a multi-faceted musician on instruments including the upright bass, guitar, piano and flute among others. He has played in various bands, spanning from folk to jazz, which have taken him across the country playing music. He has developed a passion for the sonic arts, and has been involved in projects building synthesizers from the ground up, and experimenting with audiotape. Currently, he lives in Brighton, Mass with his girlfriend and his cat, where he consistently writes and records while attending Berklee College of Music.

Studied upright bass with Robert Zimmerman for 3 years. The Zimmerman family are notable figures in the upright bass world.
Performing Experience:
The Andrew Alden Ensemble is a contemporary and electronic chamber music group from Boston, MA. Their goal is to bring forth new music for chamber music and film. The ensemble produces textual scores for film and performs them in front of a live audience to transform the picture with new sounds and experiences. The Andrew Alden Ensemble brings together a fascinating collaboration of rock music and contemporary classical composition including percussion, synthesizer, piano, violin, viola and electronic production. Played the Upright Bass for a bluegrass/americana band called Canyon Collected. We went on a nation wide tour, starting in Colorado ending up in Vermont. We played along side, Travis Warren of Blind Melon, The Rumpke Mountain Boys, The New Old Cavalry, Devil Train. We also recorded a full length album while on the road at a studio in Louisville, Kentucky.
Experience Teaching:
As a private instructor, I offer lessons designed specifically for each student. I teach any genre, but more importantly I teach the importance of musicianship so students can adapt to any situation. I provide a balanced diet of theory and technique in my instructing, while keeping the student active and engaged. Artist in Residence at the University of Illinois- Held lectures and workshops that were focused on incorporating creativity to an individuals everyday life.
