Violin Instruction

The violin instructor to whom we were assigned, Neil, was late to both scheduled lessons. The second lesson was through skype in which we waited 20 minutes for instructor because he said 1. He was running late and 2. He was rebooting his computer. Additionally, he made the lesson 1 hour long Without first communicating that with me. We will not be scheduling Neil again due to his late shows and lack of communication.. Additionally, I feel I was taken advantage of financially due to the lack of communication with him failing to see it was a 30 minute lesson and not First confirming with me and agreeing on lengthening the lesson time. Moreover,it was unnecessary things he shared during the second lesson. He kept talking about how he taught other kids, talking in great length why my daughter was Not being assigned any songs from an actual book, and went over violin terminology that was already understood at the first lesson. It seemed to me he was lengthening the lesson to get money out of it rather than to give beneficial and advancing instruction. Lastly, the instructor did not tell my daughter nor give her any assignment for the next lesson. Rather than tell her what she should be practicing after her second lesson, he hurriedly ran through what he already taught her, said some thing that were just a waste of time listening to, and said goodbye. I am now having to give her the assignment the instructor failed to give her....which I paid him and hour to do. While I believe Taylor Robinson Music has been exceptionally professional and courteous in providing me what I need for finding music instruction for my family, I do not think it is wise to recommend Neil as an instructor unless he shows long-term change in the areas of communication, financial/business ethics, and time management.
