About Me
Sooch is only teaching via webcam to advanced students. Music reading skills are required. The interval between lessons must be optimized by the student where 15 days is the recommended shortest interval. Commonly, 3, 4, 5 or 6 week intervals allow players to assimilate concepts and develop skills. Memorization is a fundamental path to increasing listening skills so listening to recordings is emphasized. Beginning in 1980, Sooch began authoring arrangements for solo guitar, that include melody, harmony and bass lines, based on a simplified Tab method that allows for performance level of songs from the last 70 years. These arrangements will soon be available on the "Arrangements for guitar" website. Background: Sooch brings over 40 years experience in the fields of music performance and arranging, acoustics, vibration and noise control. His expertise in the physics of critical sound and vibration control for recording and performance spaces, learning spaces/lecture halls and classrooms, adjacent multi-function spaces, and micro-vibration control has led to hundreds of successful projects and several patents. Sooch is also an active member of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and ISO International Standards, having authored technical papers on topics ranging from architectural acoustics to noise control and speech intelligibility. He is a voting member on the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Technical Committee E33 on architectural acoustics.
