Joe grew up in the mountains of Colorado. At the age of 5 he began his music studies on the piano. This served as a good basis for the understanding of rhythm when he got his first practice pad a few years later. He instantly loved it and a drum kit was soon to follow. Playing in school bands and jazz bands, he found a true love for music. He received multiple performance scholarships to the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, where he is wrapping up his studies in drumset performance and sound engineering. He has studied under Mike Woods, George Thompson, John Kinzie, Mike Marlier, and John Riley. He is currently playing drums for Jmitch -N- El Switch, Andy Ard, Eudea, and a few other local artists. He also performs around the Colorado area as a hired live and studio drummer. Joe also works at Laskin Production Studios as a recording/ mix engineer and producer. He has been recording and producing music in the Denver area for six years.
Joe is passionate about teaching music and spreading the language that is music. Being a drummer, he thinks that the most important thing in music is the way it feels to the listener. His lessons are based around this belief: every note that is played should not just be correct, but it should feel right.
