What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I feel the traditional piano teaching methods give the student the best, most rounded approach to learning and create the best musicians. Providing selections to learn in that vein that appeal to the student, augmented by some applicable theory and finger exercises are the core of the lesson. Ear training and memorization would be expected at some level as well. Depending on the student, this may take a path thru a standard progressive series of learning material, or we may hand pick more contemporary pieces of music once the basics are mastered.
Formal Education:
Kansas State University, BS in Education. Major in History, Minor in Music. Teaching certifications held in both.
Private Education:
12 years private instruction
Performing Experience:
Piano performance recitals; accompanist for various groups, soloists, choirs, stage productions, in various venues.
Experience Teaching:
8 years giving private lessons.
