I teach a well rounded lesson. You will become familiar with instrument if you are a beginner and I will show you ways to immediate become comfortable playing it. We will focus on the music you want to play from the get go.

Performing Experience:
Performing live since 1984. Since 1994 I have averaged at least 50 shows per year. Most years 100 shows per year. I spent 2 years touring with World renown punk-o-billy band the Hates. Currently operate and manage 18th St. I am an expert at all finer points of drumming technique including rudiments, the use of metronome for proper time, studio recording, and on stage performance-equipment and sound.

I would be more than happy to provide a referral for Richard..!!! Richard gave me private lessons from 2002-2005 and came highly recommended by word of mouth. It was a great experience and to date we remain great friends! His attention and focus to the fundamental building blocks are now a solid foundation for me to build upon, as I still strive to become a professional drummer. Richard was/is consistent, effective and most importantly "patient". His patient attitude is what kept me going and is, in my opinion, the main trait that a drum teacher must have..!!! His exercises are extremely innovative. What was really unexpected was how in tune he was to isolate and assess my strengths and weaknesses. Each week when Richard taught me, he came prepared with tailor made exercises to strengthen my weaknesses and build upon my strengths. I was so pleased with his teaching style that I hired him to instruct my daughter. Just like my experience, her lessons and exercises were custom fit to accommodate her unique skill set. I also had the unique honor of Being that my daughter is a "lefty", I found this amazing..!!! His creativity, drive, professionalism and innovation/outside the Box thinking make him an added bonus to any project. Overall, I find Richard to be a very personable and very funny..!!! He is a genuine person and cares about his craft. Both my daughter and my experience were top notch..!!! I recommend him to anyone who is wanting to learn how to play drums and percussion..!!!
