Shawn H.

Shawn is a poet, songwriter, and gifted guitarist, and can be the perfect choice for your music teacher at your home. He began playing at the age of 12, studying under the teaching of Daniel Manning at Jenning's Music in Marietta in 1987. Currently residing in Marietta and Kennesaw, Shawn studied classical guitar privately at St. Pius X High School under the renowned guitarist Peter Fletcher. In college, he studied composition, guitar performance and music history at Georgia State University in the 1990's. Shawn has taught guitar lessons in the store setting and privately since 2003. He is currently hard at work on his songwriting projects and is interested in shopping his songs to artists in Nashville, New York City and Los Angeles. Shawn received several honorable mentions for his songwriting from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest this past decade. He prides himself on teaching music with passion and care to his students. His main mission is to create that spark of joy and enthusiasm in his students, that they may fall in love with the instrument of guitar, and pursue the hobby of music for a lifetime. Shawn is a teacher who listens to his students and pays attention to their interests, honing their strengths as a developing musician, mentoring them into a well rounded student of music. Shawn feels music should be fun and relaxing, but it also takes a great work ethic. He truly believes that a supportive teacher in music outside of school will help boost the grades and abilities of students during the school day.
