About Me

My name is Kevin, and I am a recent college graduate from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music and psychology. I currently work as a part-time piano teacher, violin teacher, chess coach and math tutor, while I am an active member of my church community volunteering as a youth counselor and worship team member.

Kevin T. has over 4+ years of music experience in the Seattle area.

Kevin T. is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons .

Formal Education:

Music has been my passion ever since I first took piano lessons at the age of six. I received vigorous classical training through the Suzuki piano method and perennial entries in state adjudications and competitions, including the Simon Fiset competition and the Young Artists Festival. I then started taking violin lessons at the age of nine to join my school orchestra, which allowed me to gain an even greater appreciation for ensemble music not commonly found in the piano repertoire.

Performing Experience:

I have been exposed to many exclusive musical experiences throughout my childhood. I have performed in many of major theaters in downtown Seattle, including the Paramount Theater, the Moore Theater, McCaw Hall and Benaroya Hall as both an orchestra member and lead pianist for various professional music groups. I am currently an orchestra member for Christian artist Michael W. Smith who tours the Pacific Northwest every year. I have also had the privilege of recording violin tracks for pop artists Lupe Fiasco and Ed Sheeran in their single, “Old School Love.”

Experience Teaching:

I have had experience teaching a variety of students with different musical backgrounds for the past four years. Some students are able to grasp classical music with a strong sense of intuition and appreciation, whereas other students just want to play their favorite pop songs and movie music. I have learned to tailor my lessons to suit the student’s interests by teaching ear training, chord reading, and improvisation to a handful of students as a supplement to their classical training.

Kevin and I have served together for many years on the same worship team at our church. Kevin is a gifted musician who is dedicated to his craft, he loves music. Kevin's passionate desire to share his joy of music is most evident when he teaches; his pupils adore him and his talents are always in demand. He would be an invaluable addition to the teaching staff of any music firm, his ethical conduct and professionalism are of the highest caliber. Robert Williams wrote on Wed, 30 Mar 2016
