James C
Bass Guitar Lessons
Home or Studio
10 Years
Hello everyone! My name is James, and my specialty is the Bass Guitar. I began studying the bass in 2006 around the time I was growing tired of the piano lessons I was attending. My instructor then introduced me to the 4 stringed behemoth we know and love as the bass guitar. At first I was discouraged by how difficult the strings were to pluck, how long the neck was, and how tense my hands were when I tried to combine plucking and pressing down on the fret board. This would all change when a few years later I began playing in my first band. Ever since that fateful first show my life has been dedicated to mastering the bass guitar. I have performed in several bands of different genres during my time living in Texas including Jazz band while in school. These early years built the foundation for my experience in performing bass guitar live, understanding music theory, organizing shows, promoting, recording, and teaching a few friends bass tips and tricks along the way. I spent a majority of this time honing in my chops, and learning from those who came before me so that I could make playing bass a career. I am currently performing bass duties for Sons of Polaris, a Arizona based progressive rock/metal group founded by veteran Venezuelan guitarist Alexis Hernandez. I am patient, professional, and understand that every person learns music in their own unique way. My goal is to help students express their own personal style of playing bass, lay down unexplored grooves, and reach new potentials for themselves and their music.
