I began my musical journey at the age of 9. I began taking private lessons with Richard Grimm who was a working Jazz drummer who was very well rounded. Rich taught rudiments classically and taught the traditional grip technique (used in Jazz and Symphonic) for a more delicate approach and feel, later I moved to matched grip used in a more power approach used Rock and Fusion. I began teaching at Brook Mays Music when I was 13 and playing professionally around town while going to school. I attended the Arts Magnet School in Dallas, at the time it was Skyline High School. I continued studying with Jack Rumbly Percussionist for the Ft Worth Symphony. After graduation I received a Scholarship for Performance at Stephen F Austin University. I then moved to Los Angels and Studied with Chet McCracken (Doobie Bros) and Hank Bellson (Louie Bellson's Brother) where I learned Jazz phrasing. Throughout out my career I have recorded jingles and recorded for numerous artists, I have toured across the US and overseas playing in many different musical situations. My experience ranges from playing Theatrical Musical to Jazz, Rock, Country and Blues. Not only do I teach technique, I teach musicality. My Influences are Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Louie Bellson, Jack DeJonette, Lenny White, Carter Buford, Steve Jordan. I believe the main function of a great drummer is to make the music FEEL great.

Great Teacher
Mr Paul has been teaching our 5 year old for the past couple of weeks and we are extremely pleased with his tutoring. Our daughter joys the lessons and is getting better every week, she is learning to read sheet music & rudiments. He has been very patient and considerate of our schedule and works with us to accommodate our daughters temperament. Thanks Mr Paul. Soymya Rao wrote on Fri, 30 Mar 2018
