I'm Hayden, I'm a jazz trained musician with over 10 years of experience playing and teaching under my belt. As a young child I became enamoured by the various 60's and 70's jazz, New Orleans blues, and rock and roll that was in my household and by the time I was 9 I got my first guitar. I initially learned from local blues artists and then went on to pursue more fundamental, theory based jazz training. I am able to teach students of any age most any kind of guitar and bass technique, and a functional, applicable understanding of music theory. I am also able to record and produce music using my own in home studio, the link provided is an example of some of my own solo work.
Hayden H. has over 10 years of music experience in the Winter Park area.
Hayden H. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Formal Education:
While attending high school and college I took as many music classes as possible, including some basic to intermediate music theory classes in high school and advanced music theory in college.
Private Education:
From the time I turned 15 until I was 20 I studied directly under Todd Bethune, the owner (and a teacher) of the studio I eventually worked at. During this time I was exposed to more experimental or hybrid forms of jazz, instances such as Al Di Meola and Pat Methany, along with obvious classic musicians like Chic Korea and Miles Davis. Around this time I also developed a very deep love for the New Orleans/Louisiana blues I grew up with and began pursuing this on my own.
Performing Experience:
My performing experience can be traced back to my first high school band when I was 14, to being involved in a contemporary group that was faculty run at my high school as well as a faculty run jazz band and many more high school bands. I also performed alongside my mentor Todd Bethune many times while finishing high school and going to college, playing large venues all around our local area.
Experience Teaching:
I taught at Todd's Teaching Studio from October of 2012 to April of 2016 and taught many students in that time. I have a teaching method that I developed while still in high school that deals with lesson plans in a adaptive way, but always centering around a 3 phase teaching program. I will not delve into these here but I am more than happy to explain and elaborate if asked! I have taught anywhere from age 6 all the way to age 36, beginner to advanced and everywhere in between.
