I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. In high school I accompanied the chorus and performed in concerts and on radio. I attended the Eastman and Juilliard Schools, majoring in piano performance and pedagogy. I have pursued a concert and teaching career spanning over 40 years, performing in Europe and the United States and have been on the faculty of several well-known conservatories. A number of my students have won competitions and gone on to major in music at schools such as Northwestern University and Peabody Conservatory. Many others have learned to play simply for enjoyment and have regarded their lessons as an important part of their overall education. My philosophy of teaching focuses on music as a pursuit that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of talent or experience. I aim to provide the student with a joyous and satisfying experience with music and I tailor the lessons to the student's desires, aspirations, and tastes. A student who is serious about music as a career or just wants to learn a few tunes and gain some knowledge of music will both profit from studying with me. I believe that both lessons and practicing can be enjoyable and relaxing, free from the intensity and pressure sometimes encountered as part of some teachers' methods. I am very friendly and supportive of my students and do my best to make sure they progress and stay happy!
