About Me

My name is Andre but I like to go by Dre. I started playing drums at the age of 5 on a mini drum set that my father bought me for my birthday and ever since its been history from there. I have been drumming on everything from drums to pots and pans since then. I Grew up In Laurel Maryland playing the clarinet because when I was about 10 I got my mother evicted for drumming all of the time and many sound ordinances. I started playing clarinet in 6th grade and then my parents realized that music was my calling. I was in my middle schools concert and adv concert classes. After my 8th grade year the sniper shootings happened and I moved to Colorado and this is when my true percussion career started!

In 2003 when I arrived in Colorado I immediately joined my high school concert band, wind symphony 2 and 1, and clarinet choir. I always wanted to get back to the roots of drumming and one day the drum line staff and drum line all had a fallout and everyone quit and then I decided to join the Loveland high school drum line. From that point on I practiced about 8 hours a day and 2 years later ended up auditioning for the blue knights drum and bugle corps and going on tour in 2008. I fell in love so much the drum corps that I ended up getting into their world-class percussion ensemble as well. I did a total of 4 tours 2 with both groups. Through my connections with these groups I got the opportunity to play on the same stage with hit artist such as Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.  After tour I decided that I should be focusing all of my time on music since it was my calling. I then auditioned and was accepted into Berklee College of Music as a drum set principle. Through Berklee I have had many experiences, mainly the most important was learning the roll of a drum set player.
