I attended college at Houston Baptist University, I enrolled as Music Theory and Composition student with the classical guitar as my instrument.  Attending college for music was not what my parents had in mind for me at the time and in looking back I might have done some things differently but still would have taken music as my major if I had to do it all over again.    After HBU I attended The Pennsylvania State University where I majored in Music Theory and Composition.  My time there took two years of study to complete and it was from 1992 to 1994.  I graduated with a Masters in Theory and Composition with experience in computer music using the latest software at the time.  When I got back to Texas the first I needed was a job and music teaching positions were not in high demand.  I was able to work as an assistant manager at Planet Music, a large music retail store in Houston that sold Cd’s, tapes and various music accessories.  By 1996 the nationwide chain of Planet Music was sold to the Borders Books stores and was closed.  So I started to work for Borders Books and Music as a music clerk in the Sugarland store.  By this time I was able to secure two adjunct teaching positions, one at Houston Baptist University teaching a course in MIDI – Musical Instrument Digital Interface and the other at Kingwood College teaching Music Theory, Private lessons in Guitar and Guitar Ensemble.  I truly enjoyed my short tenure at Kingwood College where I made a good deal of friends with some of the music students who were very talented and some of them were able to pursue Bachelors degrees in music.  I was constantly writing music mostly piano based music, such as music akin to Billy Joel or Elton John.  I did not write much guitar based songs at this time I felt I needed to hone my piano chops as best as I can, and I am still trying to always get better.  Today, I am writing an equal portion of piano and guitar based music, and with the advent of the band that I am currently in named Four – Score I am writing in different types of genres and instruments.  With Dtunengs Music Publishing I am hoping to further bring mine and other artists’ music to the broad commercial market and hope for those talented songwriters out there would like to consider Dtunengs Music Publishing as a home for their publishing needs.
