Hi, my name is Bill, I started playing music in elementary school, playing the trumpet. My mom always got mad because whenever I wasn't in class or where I was supposed to be, they always knew where to find me: the music room! Around the age of 13, a friend of mine played guitar, and it really caught my interest, so that Christmas, my big present was a guitar. Unfortunately, my parents didn't have the money to put me through guitar lessons, so I made friends with local bands, went to their rehersals, roadied for them, all the while watching, learning, and asking questions. I would go home and just practice for hours what I had learned. I wanted to start learning actual songs, so I sat down with the tape player (some of you won't even know what they are), and I would just take it measure by measure.  That's how I first learned Black Sabbath's Paranoid, among others. When I teach, I like to try to teach within the student's ability and work from there. I love the guitar, and I just want to give back what has been given to me. I mainly play rock and metal, but have played in classic rock and blues bands also. I learn everything by ear.
