Ian received his B.M. in Percussion Performance from Texas Tech University, M.M. in Percussion Performance from the University of North Texas, and Ph.D. in Fine Arts – Musicology from Texas Tech University. His background in percussion performance is a varied mix of interests in musical styles and instruments. He was a member of the Roswell, Lubbock, and Midland Symphonies, performed for musical theater, toured as a drumset artist in pop settings, performed jazz on vibes and malletKAT in his own ensembles, a Latin percussionist in salsa groups, and performer of the steel pan. Ian has taught in music departments for San Jacinto College, Lonestar College, Houston Community College, The University of Houston, Lubbock Christian University, and Texas Tech. He has been a percussion clinician/guest artist for various schools, including Brazoswood High School, Pearland ISD, Coppell ISD, Lewisville ISD, Texas Tech, Lubbock Christian University, Lubbock ISD, and The Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas. Ian also formed Maroon Steel, the first official Steel Band of Texas A&M.

What to expect in my Drum Lessons
Students can expect to study what they desire to learn in in whatever genre or genres of music they are interested in pursuing. Playalongs, learning reading skills, and developing technique are a part of the lesson. We go at the pace the student desires.
