Re: Doug D

I have known Doug for several years in a professional capacity. I have played myriad shows with him over this time, both in New York and around the country on tour. I find Doug to be the consummate professional; his talent and acumen is matched or surpassed by his outstanding work ethic. He is simply always prepared, and knows exactly what his role is on a team. I began studying theory with him, which has significantly improved my abilities as a piano and guitar player. He is also a warm, generous person, who's always been very encouraging of me as I grew from a chord-banger to a legitimate soloist on several of our projects. It was through his help both as an educator and accompanist that I discovered my own talents as a musician. As an educator myself (I teach History and Mathematics at the high school level), I feel Doug is an ideal candidate for any teaching position. Andrew Emeritz wrote on Mon, 12 Sep 2016

Experienced teacher for students of all ages

Doug Drewes is an excellent and experienced professional musician and music teacher. I' ve seen him teaching first hand with students of all ages. He is very patient and passionate about his students and music in general. He understands the value of teaching students how to read and write music notation as opposed to just memorization. He exhibits great leadership skills and works hard to develop music curriculum for all levels, Doug is aware of a variety of approaches to teaching music, and is constantly broadening his pedagogy based on best- practice as well as catering to students individual needs.
