I am an accomplished musician and have been playing drums for over 40 years. I recently had been performing regularly around the Winchester, Virginia and Washington DC area but as of July 2016, I now live in Canton, Ohio and will be looking to branch out in this new area! I'm formally from the Jersey Shore so much of my career was spent there up until 13 years ago when I moved to the Washington Metro area. I play a multitude of styles, all with passion, energy and finesse. I excel at the creative aspects of music and drumming. I enjoy playing with many different musicians and bands and I'm always on the lookout for something interesting. Feel free to contact me. I also enjoy recording, producing and arranging music. I run a small very well equipped recording studio call "Over the Hill Studios" and I am available for either recording drum tracks for your music or recording your full band at extremely attractive rates. I can produce awesome full fledged radio ready tracks as well as simple, great sounding, straight forward live in the studio demo tracks all at very reasonable cost! Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I always need to stress the fundamentals first. Any student must first have a good command of the sticks before moving to the drum kit so some period of pad practice is necessary to be sure the students have decent ability to control the sticks. Also, at least basic reading skills will be taught as well in order for the student to be able to understand note placement and rhythmic concepts. From there depending on the musical interest and age of the student, we will determine the style(s) of music to focus on using music minus drumming examples when appropriate. 4 way coordination and drum-set exersizes will be a large part of the on-going lessons

Experience Teaching:
I have experience teaching all levels although nowadays prefer intermediate level students and up who are at least 12 yrs old. I tailor the curriculum based on age and experience. I always focus partly on fundamentals as those are absolutely required to make any sort of real progress and then also drumset instruction assuming the student has the capacity and time to practice. Drums, like anything, are not easy and it is easy to get discouraged at first so I really try to take things at a pace that keeps the student interested and allows them to see progress while really pushing the fundamental aspect if they are a beginner. Unless a student possess some "natural" ability (and some do!), most (very young) beginners do not have the coordination developed to play even simple full drumset beats so I stress the need to work SLOW and make sure the student can dedicate a set amount of time at a set time 5 days a week for practice. I do not like wasting anyone's time or money with expectations less than that.

Drum Lesson Allen
I scheduled an in home Drum lesson with Allen and I'm very pleased with his advice and professionalism. Allen took time to watch me play a few songs then make suggestions on how to be more comfortable playing. Raising cymbal stands, floor tom and most importantly moving the Hi-Hat stand. Allen answered all of my questions and even texted me a drum throne that might work for me. If your looking for Drum lessons for yourself or for your kids Allen is definitely the Instructor.
