I love Music! My family has always incorporated music into our lives. Some of my earliest memories are being danced around in my Moms arms and listening to her sing. I began formal lessons on the Piano when I was 7 years old. Growing up, I also sang in the Church Choirs, played on Hand Bells, and explored the Flute.& I spent a formal year each on Trumpet, Drums and Harpsichord and am currently working on learning Zither, Autoharp, Dulcimer, and Soprano & Alto Recorders, and sometimes the guitar (when I have a chance). Of course, I also regularly read and attend lectures, conferences, seminars and master classes to always improve my teaching skills. I have been teaching piano and music theory since 1983 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA and have played professionally. I keep busy and love teaching!

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Each lesson, we begin with warmups: trills, scales, chords, Hanon, technique, etc. Problems? We go over that first. Then we cover each piece and assign new ones. Next is theory. I believe that students should know what they are doing. After all, becoming independent is why you go to a teacher! In the intermediate levels we begin composition, harmony and improvisation. If we have time, we will also do flashcards and ear training. Then, if at my studio, the student does Music Lab, which may consist of computer education programs, reading about pretty much anything about music, games, etc. Once a month we also have a Group Session, at no extra charge, of 90 minutes. Multiple recitals each year. When advanced enough, we participate in the Arizona State Study Program, which is essentially benchmark tests with rewards. Students have access, if desired, to local, state and national competitions. We also do field trips.
