A native of Taiwan, Shao-Yu (Ann), is a freelance flutist and pianist in Albuquerque. She moved to the United States in 2005 after receiving her first Bachelor’s degree in Taiwan. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education with a flute emphasis from the University of Arizona under the tutelage of Brian Luce. In 2016, Ann received a Master of Music degree in Flute and Piano Performance from the University of New Mexico, where she studied with Professors Valerie Potter and Pamela Pyle. Ann has performed at the 2007 and 2016 National Flute Association Convention with the Professional Flute Choirs –Flutefinity Flute Ensemble and Golden Flute Choir. She has also performed in master classes with Trevor Wye, Jan Vinci, Gary Schocker, Mary Karen Clardy, and Christopher Caliendo. She has been teaching privately since 2007. Ann dedicates most of her time to playing chamber music and hopes one day to form her own chamber group. Besides music, she loves traveling and photography.

Ann
Ann recently began working for our church as an accompanist for our music camp and children's choir programs. Ann is a real asset to our program. She is very diligent in her preparation and is eager to learn new things. She has taken it upon herself to observe our early childhood program to further her education and experience. Ann is also fun and works well with our children. Although she has only worked with us a short time, I am thrilled to have her as a part of our team. Excellent Instruction!
Ann is an amazing teacher! She's patient and very good at explaining music theory and fundamentals of playing the flute. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to go the extra mile! She's attentive to detail and makes playing music fun! She is also a very accomplished musician who has studied flute passionately for many years under excellent professors at Universities.
