From Gt Barrington, Ma. Began studying piano at age 6, Received Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY in 1959. Studied further with artist teachers in NYC area. Living in St. Petersburg since 1960. Many 2 piano concerts with my partner, Gloria Bolivar, Member of Florida State Music Teachers assoc., MTNA, and Greater Pinellas MTA. 2 of my former students won the county-wide Chopin Competition here in Pinellas County. I received the Certificate of Experience by examination issued by the Florida State MTA in 2004. Have been 2nd VP of the Florida State Music Teachers Assoc and president of the MTA of Greater St. Petersburg twice. Many former students have gone on to successful careers in music.
Leland P has over 50 years of music experience in the St. Petersburg area.
Leland P is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons .Formal Education:
Received the Bachelor of Music degree with a major in piano from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY in June 1959
Private Education:
further piano study with Dr. Jean Dansereau in Yorktown Heights NY following graduation from Eastman
Performing Experience:
Soloist with the Pinellas County Youth Symphony playing the Beethoven 3rd Piano Concerto in 1965. Began an 8 year partnership with my piano partner, Gloria Bolivar in 1969. We played 2 piano concerts yearly until 2006 when my partner had to return to Mexico City for health reasons. Most of our concerts were held at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg.
Experience Teaching:
I have been teaching here in St Petersburg since 1963. Also taught as adjunct professor at the then St. Petersburg Junior College (now St. Petersburg College)
