Born into a musical family, began studying music at a young age. Primary instrument of concentration is saxophone, also proficient in piano and other woodwinds. Studied music performance at both the high school and collegiate levels. After receiving an education in jazz, started branching out after graduation to perform with various bands in various styles, including funk, reggae, and rock. Over ten years experience as a performer, five years as a private music teacher. Co-founded the Hilton Head Jazz Camp in 2012, which has grown from ten to over sixty students in five years.
Josh K has over 5 years of music experience in the Highlands Ranch area.
Josh K is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .Formal Education:
Bachelor of Arts in Music (performance), Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. High School diploma from Lehigh Valley Charter Arts (Bethlehem, PA), Instrumental Music major. One year of college at Temple University in Philadelphia, studying with saxophonist Dick Oatts.
Performing Experience:
Three years as lead sax/keyboards with Trouble City All-Stars, a roots/rock/reggae band from Bethlehem, PA. Opened up for major artists such as Snoop Dogg, The Wailers, The Dirty Heads, and Badfish. Lead alto in the Kutztown University Jazz Ensemble, performed with artists Wycliffe Gordon, Geoffrey Keezer, and Alan Ferber. Performed in Italy with KU Jazz Ensemble (2013). Performed in Slovenia with LV Charter Arts Jazz Ensemble (2009).
Experience Teaching:
Three years at West End Music studio in Allentown, PA (2013-2016). Five years as music faculty and co-founder of the Hilton Head Jazz Camp (2012-16). Co-directed Jazz Ensemble III at Kutztown University of PA in 2014.
