David’s musical journey began with teenage basement albums and wound through classical piano studies, jazz studies, traditional Irish music, life as a street musician, Gypsy Swing in Galway, The Prague Fringe Festival, extensive touring in Europe and in a bio-diesel van in the US, and creative children’s theater. He is inspired by interdisciplinary collaboration, which has been a principal focus in his work as a pianist, guitarist, vocalist, arranger and composer in Chimney Choir.
David R has over 10 years of music experience in the Denver area.
David R is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons .Formal Education:
Classical Piano Performance study, Ashland University, OH (incomplete) Jazz Studies, Naropa University, CO (incomplete)
Performing Experience:
Extensive experience performing solo or with ensembles. Classical recitals, touring band, ballet and dance accompaniment, choir accompaniment. Festivals, fringe festivals, theaters, bars, coffee shops, Red Rocks, Bluebird, Boulder Theater, etc. Performed in hundreds of elementary schools doing Children's Theater. Touring experience in Europe and America as both back up and lead. 15 years.
Experience Teaching:
Teaching has been on and off, but I enjoy it. I have taught at West Woods Performing Arts studios in Arvada and Erie, and I sub there sometimes. I have taught private lessons in Colorado, Oregon, Galway (Ireland) and Vermont.

David works for us at our Songs for Seeds musical childhood education program. His plays keyboard in the band and does a tremendous job engaging the students. Our students are very young, 1-3 years old in most cases, but David keeps their attention and engages them through his music. As you might expect, in a setting like this, there are a lot of surprises - kids screaming and dancing, students trying to play the piano while class is going on, and lots of parents who are very concerned about the well-being and education of their children.
