I have been playing for a little over 16 years now. I've studied percussion under some fantastic people such as: Scotty Thomas ("Shine"), Dr. Laura Franklin (understudy of Vic Firth), Henry Davis (understudy of Rick Dior), and Dr. Christopher Davis (Yamaha and Innovative Percussion artist). I have toured with a praise and worship band for about 8 months where I saw the south-east. I'm an endorsed by Dream Cymbals, 1710 Percussion, and Rich Sticks, and often collaberate with other percussion companies. I have a BA in General Music with a focus in percussion and secondary in piano from Brevard College. I am an elementary music teacher at Thunderbird Prep Academy. Teaching there has really inspired me to constantly teach children with the goal of being so versatile and aware of the needs of the student that no student will fall behind with the proper attention and organization. Teaching is my passion and I hope to get my Masters in Percussion Performance within the next 2 years.

We Love Gavin!
Gavin has been such a wonderful teacher for our 6 year old son, Jude. He is so very patient, and he grows in understanding of how to best teach so that Jude will be successful in his lessons and beyond. He gives Jude fun challenges to do along with the theory, and is really making sure that he knows the theory and can read the music, which is important to me as a parent - this is what helps with math skills! Jude enjoys his lessons, and Gavin has found some great ways to help us make sure our practice time is used efficiently and effectively.
