15 Years
My name is Tyler, I am 27 years old and I am a bass player and a music producer, trained in playing primarily a jazz bass, both fretted and fretless. I am interested in this program because of the knowledge I have to offer to the students using my unique teaching style. I come from a background of varying genres and technique focused playing. My childhood was filled with Classic and Southern Rock, to my teenage years as a prog-rock and metal enthusiast, I have experimented with my own personal taste to obtain an ever-changing perspective on music. I started singing in my church’s choir when I was three years old and I gained my love classical music from that time as well. I also have live performance experience, and studio sessions, which arguably spans my entire live. I am primarily self-taught and self accredited and have played with many World-Class musicians including Victor Wooten, Roy “FutureMan” Wooten, Joseph Wooten, J.D. Blair, and Andy Irvine just to name a few. I now focus on my aspiring love for Soul Music including Jazz, Motown, Rn’B, Hip-Hop and Rap, Lo-Fi, and World Fusion. My teaching style is a bit unorthodox as I treat Music as if it were a living being. I thrive when teaching one student at a time but I can work with more students if it will benefit the group and if there is a need for it. I believe the way to achieve milestones relatively quickly and more effectively than “traditional” methods is by developing individualized curriculum for each student. I am skilled in multiple modern electric bass techniques including “Pop n’ Slap”, “Thump n’ Pick”, Palm Muting, Harmonic Treatment, Chord Enfaces and Placement, Improvisation and Jamming, Composition and Transcription, Chart Writing and Practicing, Finger Exercises and Wrist Positions, Picking and Tapping, etc., on both fretted and fretless basses. I am planning on moving to Charlotte from Asheville after the later weeks of June this year and I feel that I could be a great addition to your School. If you would like a demonstration of my works , they can be found at //www.soundloud.com/t-buck-3.
