Mark Su

A graduate from the Berklee college of music, Mark’s extremely versatile style has been utilized by a wide variety of artists. He has worked in live performances with : Howard Jones, Gordon Lightfoot, Mitch Ryder, Earl Klugh, Leo Sayer, KC & the sunshine band and Tony Orlando. He has recorded with award winning producer David Foster, George Clinton, Brea Starr and What It IS. Locally he has been an in demand drummer with many acts such as: Dixiecrossroad, The Chance, Dr. Pocket, Nick Strange & the bare naked, Kentucky strait and motown funk brother-Dennis Coffey. Currently he is working with national recording artist Justine Blazer, his own Jazz/Fusion group other people's children, other various local groups and teaching a large roster of students, clinics and master classes at such institutions as the Power Chord Academy(Chicago), Avanti Music Academy (Toronto), Michigan's Interlochen Arts Camp, DePaul University's school of music and summer jazz camps at Indiana University and Oberlin school of music. 

Drum set instruction includes : Moeller technique,Rudiment training, Foot technique; both heel up and down, Linear and polyrythmic phrasing, working with a click and percussion loops, 4 way independence as well as methods from Ed Kaspik, Gary Chaffee Ed Uribe and Gary Chester, all of whom Mark has studied with. Chart reading for all levels; voicing and style interpetation. 

Mark has also authored the book Phrase the Patterns.
