Growing up in Saint Louis, MO, Nick was surrounded by music from an early age. He picked up guitar and piano at the age of 11, and started taking lessons for both around the age of 14. In high school, Nick played piano in the jazz combo band at his high school Christian Brothers College. He also led his own band, outside of school, which began playing in venues around the St. Louis area. In 2005 Nick applied to Berklee College of Music and was enrolled in 2006. While at Berklee, Nick studied with some of the most sought after teachers in the U.S. including Tomo Fujita, Jim Kelly, and Scotty Johnson. Nick received the Roy Haynes Award during his 5th semester for recognition in outstanding musicianship. He also played in a corporate gig band, Downtown Fever, during the summers of college. Their repertoire covered most genres from Jazz to Country, and they played all over the east coast. Nick left Boston in 2008 to pursue a job in Austin, TX playing guitar in a Texas country band. Experience Teaching:
I have taught guitar lessons since the age of 16. In high school, I tutored fellow classmates who were taking the guitar class. I had private lessons with elementary school kids my junior and senior year. In college, I had a 6-8 guitar students I taught out of my home. I also tutored students in music harmony and ear training while at Berklee. While in Austin I've been teaching steadily for the past two years averaging around 5-6 lessons a week. I usually teach in my home; however, I teach at a few students homes.
